Disputes with licensed securities brokers are subject to binding arbitration. FINRA requires all securities firms to have such arbitration agreements in the account opening documents of the firms. The procedure of FINRA arbitration is different that procedure for state or federal courts, or even other arbitration venues. As such, an experienced attorney is needed.
Jeff Pederson began practicing law in 1998. His primary focus is suits against securities broker-dealers for securities law violations, negligence and breach of fiduciary duties. He has been arbitrating with FINRA, and its predecessor the NASD, since 2002. Prior to starting his solo practice, Mr. Pederson was with a large, AV rated firm for eight years. At this firm, he represented investors in suits concerning all areas of securities fraud and mismanagement.
Arbitration awards for FINRA are publicly available online. Investors see attorney records here. Likewise, investors can see the records of their financial advisor at FINRA’s Brokercheck.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Pederson represented over three hundred individual investors in more than 40 different states in securities related suits.
These investors’ suits include cases concerning investment suitability, such as losses in GWG, mutual fund manager fraud, investment analyst fraud, stockbroker theft, brokerage fraud, failure of broker or brokerage to conduct due diligence, and variable annuity fraud. He has also handled cases of 72-T fraud, hedge fund fraud, churning, unauthorized trading of investments, unauthorized use of margin, undisclosed broker conflict of interests and compensation, stockbroker mismanagement of retirement savings, and other investment fraud and mismanagement.
The suits have been against some of the largest securities brokerage firms in the world. Mr. Pederson has also represented victims of Ponzi scams including victims of Bernard Madoff.
